I was discussing Mastodon with a friend and neighbour this morning. We were wondering of this is the way that social media can be used responsibly and positively by human beings. Let's hope so.

I read today that if all the blue check people actually paid $8/mo this would raise $38m a year, or .2 per cent of the current revenue of BirdLand. Something tells me this is not a viable business plan.

So is the flameout of Twitter the spark that will ignite federated social media? Certainly looks promising right now.
